State Duma Deputy Maxim Ivanov told how a serviceman who had been in a coma for almost a year was mistakenly recognized as a deserter and was not paid any allowance.
Since the spring of 2023, the SVO participant was in a coma due to injury in a hospital in the Leningrad region. When he was taken to the hospital, it turned out that the patient had lost his passport. In this regard, difficulties arose with processing the payment of allowances.
Ivanov wrote in his Telegram channel that he contacted the military prosecutor’s office regarding the payments. There he was told that they were not going to pay the fighter anything at all, since allegedly he had not been in a coma all this time, but had left the unit without permission.
“When I found out about this, I simply had no words: how is this possible?” — the deputy was indignant.
The deputy added that the discovered error was promptly corrected, and the wounded soldier received a full allowance. Ivanov added that similar situations in military practice are becoming fewer and fewer.
