MOSCOW, April 9 Head of the Gagauz Autonomy of Moldova Evgenia Gutsul is on a working visit to Moscow, the correspondent reported.
The last time the politician visited Russia was in early March. Then Hutsul had meetings with President Vladimir Putin, with whom she discussed the political situation in Moldova, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko and other government officials.
In addition, the politician took part in the World Youth Festival in Sochi, where she held negotiations with the leadership of Russian regions with which Gagauzia has partnership agreements. Hutsul noted that she intends to expand economic, social and cultural cooperation with the Krasnodar Territory and the Penza Region.
Gagauzia is an autonomy in the south of Moldova, which traditionally advocates rapprochement with Russia, while Chisinau has declared a course towards European integration. In February 2014, a referendum was held in this territory on the issue of determining the vector of the country’s foreign policy. More than 98% of its participants were in favor of integrating the republic into the Customs Union.
