The head of Roscosmos Borisov named the reason for canceling the launch of Angara A-5

It has been postponed to Wednesday

The first launch of the Angara A-5 launch vehicle from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, planned for Tuesday at 12:00 Moscow time, has been postponed to a reserve date , that is, on Wednesday. This was announced immediately after an unsuccessful attempt to lift a 760-ton launch vehicle into the sky by the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov.

It has been moved to Wednesday

Yuri Borisovich also reported the reason for the transfer: “The automation canceled the process due to a failure of the pressurization system of the oxidizer tank of the central unit. In this situation, the launch is postponed to a reserve date, tomorrow.”

Recall that the rocket was supposed to launch with a new Orion upper stage and a test payload, which had to be launched into an orbit close to geostationary, then there is, to an altitude of about 36 thousand kilometers.

However, the system canceled the launch literally in 2 minutes, immediately after the command: “Oxidizer filling has ended.”

Angara A-5 rocket produced GKNPTs im. Khrunicheva should replace the only heavy Russian launch vehicle Proton. It is distinguished from the Proton, which flew on harmful heptyl, because its fuel is environmentally friendly and modular.

Previously, the Angara was launched only from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. The difference between launches from these cosmodromes lies in the launch capability: from Plesetsk, satellites can be launched into lower orbits, from Vostochny — into higher ones.
