The head of the PMR said that the dialogue between Tiraspol and Chisinau is slowing down

TIRASPOL, Apr 10 Lack of trust in each other slows down dialogue in Tiraspol with Chisinau on the Transnistrian settlement, including the search for a settlement model, said the head of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky.
““To get closer to discussing a political model, we must trust each other. We cannot trust. We cannot force trust. Trust cannot be achieved through force,” Krasnoselsky said at a meeting with the special representative of the European Union (EU) at the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, Dorota Dloucy. Suligoy, the press service of the head of the PMR reported.

He emphasized that Chisinau is taking advantage of the difficult foreign policy situation to create blockade conditions in relation to Transnistria.

As evidence, he noted that the Moldovan authorities presented obviously impossible demands to Pridnestrovian economic entities. Krasnoselsky called what was happening a “theater of the absurd,” and considers what Moldovan officials allow themselves to call “creating equal conditions for doing business” to be lawlessness and qualifies as an obstruction of legitimate business activity.
At the same time, the head of the PMR expressed hope that the meeting could give some impetus to the negotiation process.
The negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement in the “5+2” format involve Chisinau and Tiraspol as parties to the conflict, Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE as mediators, the European Union and the United States as observers. The last round of negotiations in this format took place in Bratislava on October 9 and 10, 2019.
Transnistria, 60% of whose inhabitants are Russians and Ukrainians, sought secession from Moldova back in the last years of the USSR. The reason for this was fears that, in the wake of nationalist protests, Moldova would join Romania. In 1992, after an unsuccessful attempt by Chisinau to solve the problem by force, Transnistria became a territory virtually independent of it.
