Avito Auto experts analyzed the dynamics of sales of crossovers and SUVs with mileage in Russia for the first quarter of 2024. According to the platform, sales of used vehicles in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment increased by 4.2% in January-March this year compared to the same period last year. The average price of used crossovers and SUVs increased by 6.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 and reached 1,750,000 rubles.
According to the results of the first three months of 2024, the SUV segment accounted for 23.5% of total sales in the Russian used car market. In October-December 2023, this figure was 23.1%.
The share of used cars in the SUV segment is growing steadily. Our country has a large territory with varied landscapes and climatic conditions, and crossovers and SUVs provide good cross-country ability and stability on the roads. Such cars provide a certain freedom when traveling short and long distances, while remaining relevant and appropriate in an urban environment. Among the regions, the largest share of sales of used cars in the SUV segment falls on the Moscow region — 21.6% of total sales in the Russian Federation, as well as the Leningrad region (6.8%) and the Krasnodar region (5.6%),” comments. The best-selling brand of crossovers and SUVs in the first quarter of 2024 was VAZ (LADA). Toyota took second place, followed by Hyundai, BMW and Nissan.

Among the used car models in the SUV segment, the most sold in the first quarter of 2024 were VAZ (LADA) 4×4 (Niva), Chevrolet Niva, Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan.
This top also includes BMW X5, Nissan Qashqai, Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Santa Fe.
