SIMFEROPOL, April 10 Ukrainian troops have recently significantly increased drone attacks on Energodar and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, said the head of the city administration, Eduard Senovoz.
On Sunday, the press service of Zaporizhia NPP reported a drone attack on the dome of the sixth power unit. It was noted that there were no critical injuries. A little earlier, it was reported that UAVs arrived in the area of the canteen, as well as in the area of the cargo port. On Monday, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone was shot down over the station. It fell on the roof of the 6th power unit; no threats of violating the safety limits of the Zaporizhzhya NPP were recorded. On Tuesday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked with a drone the unique training center of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, where the world's only full-scale reactor hall simulator is located.
“Unfortunately, I can state that recently the activity of unmanned aerial vehicles has increased significantly not only over the city, but also over the nuclear power plant. Almost every day, attacks are carried out on the adjacent territory of the city, and directly on the nuclear power plant itself, which cannot but cause fears,» Senovoz told reporters.
According to him, the number of drone attacks has increased significantly, and the city receives notifications of air threats almost daily.
““Today, the administration interrupted its work several times due to the danger of drone strikes on the administration. One of the aircraft exploded directly close to the city limits,” Senovoz emphasized.
ZNPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the city of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity — the station has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt. In October 2022, the nuclear power plant became the property of the Russian Federation.
