It has been officially announced that the truck will be global. However, it will still have to wait.
Kia has long ago registered the name Tasman. Moreover, as soon as this became known, there was an immediate assumption that this name would go to the brand’s first mass-produced pickup truck. And in March of this year, the Australian division of Kia published an announcement of the upcoming truck with many bold hints specifically about the word Tasman. However, only now the brand’s global office has officially confirmed the name of the model, simultaneously releasing several fresh, but still unclear teasers.
As you might guess, the pickup truck is named after Tasmania, an island located near Australia. At the same time, the Kia Tasman will be global: it is going to be sold not only on the Green Continent, but also in the brand’s native Korea, countries of Africa and the Middle East. But the market debut is scheduled only for 2025. However, the presentation will most likely be held in 2024.

According to preliminary data, the Kia Tasman will have a frame structure, while the sister brand Hyundai today offers exclusively a “passenger” Santa Cruz pickup with a monocoque body (this model is made on the basis of the Tucson crossover). In Australia, the Kia truck is tipped to come in single and double cab configurations, plus there the vehicle will likely be available as a chassis with the option of adding superstructures. It is expected that the Kia Tasman will receive a 2.2 turbodiesel, which is familiar from other Hyundai-Kia models.
Meanwhile, earlier the Kolesa.ru designer presented his vision of what a frame pickup truck of the Korean brand could turn out to be.< /p>
