The KinoTV television channel was fined 1 million rubles under the protocol on “demonstration” of LGBT relationships due to the screening of “V for Vendetta”

The Petrogradsky District Court of St. Petersburg fined the KinoTV channel 1 million rubles for showing the film “V for Vendetta.” This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.

The television channel was found guilty under the administrative protocol of “demonstration” of LGBT relationships with incorrect age markings (Part 2 of Article 6.21.2 of the Administrative Code).

KinoTV showed “V for Vendetta” labeled “16+” in the Kemerovo region on the night of June 16, the press service explained.

According to the court, the film contains “scenes of demonstration of non-traditional sexual relationships and preferences of a character named Valerie, which is expressed by verbal (description) and visual components (image of frames of kisses, hugs between persons of the same biological sex (female) «.

The dystopian film tells about a fictional totalitarian regime that has established itself in Great Britain, and how those who disagree with it fight. In one of the fragments of the film, the main character, Evie Hammond, finds herself in solitary confinement, there she finds and reads the notes of a lesbian prisoner who was imprisoned because of her sexual orientation.

Last November in St. Petersburg, the editor-in-chief of the KinoTV channel Sergei Katyshev was fined 200 thousand rubles for the same screening (Part 2 of Article 6.21.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences). The publication «Film Distributor's Bulletin» then drew attention to the fact that, according to the distribution certificate issued by the Ministry of Culture for «V for Vendetta», the film received an age limit of 16+.
