MOSCOW, April 11 A bill has been submitted to the State Duma , providing for the termination of acquired Russian citizenship for violating a citizen's oath, the project is available in the Duma electronic database.
The initiative was introduced by State Duma deputies Mikhail Matveev, Sergey Obukhov (both — Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Oleg Nilov and Mikhail Delyagin (both — «A Just Russia — For the Truth «).
«1. Persons acquiring citizenship of the Russian Federation on the grounds provided for in paragraphs 2, 4 and 5 of Article 12 of this federal law are required to take the oath of a citizen of the Russian Federation: «I (last name, first name, patronymic (if any) , voluntarily and consciously accepting citizenship of the Russian Federation, I solemnly swear: to comply with the Constitution and legislation of the Russian Federation, the rights and freedoms of its citizens; to fulfill the duties of a citizen of the Russian Federation for the benefit of the state and society; to protect the freedom and independence of the Russian Federation; be loyal to Russia, respect its culture, history and traditions. And if I violate the obligations of this oath of mine, then let the severe punishment of the law befall me, including the termination of citizenship of the Russian Federation,” says the text of the draft federal law.
