MOSCOW, April 12 Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko asked residents countries to prepare for possible blackouts already in the spring-summer period.
According to the official, before the start of the heating season he was asked whether it was worth buying generators.

"When the minister says: we are all buying generators — it's a little scary. But in fact, I want to repeat what I said then: yes, buy it, get ready, but we will do everything in our power so that you don’t need them. Now massive attacks have resumed and we need to be prepared for any scenario,” he said on TSN.
Galushchenko added that mass power outages are possible this spring and summer. Moreover, last Monday the minister claimed that there would be no total blackout in the country.
In response to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on civilian targets, the Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian infrastructure: energy, defense industry, military command and communications enterprises. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the army does not attack residential buildings or social facilities.
Thus, on March 22, Russian troops launched a massive missile and drone attack on energy facilities and the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. Explosions were heard in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnitsky, Vinnytsia and Lviv regions, as well as in Kyiv, Kharkov, Krivoy Rog and Sumy. Local media reported power outages in Odessa, Kirovograd, Dnepropetrovsk and Poltava regions.
The head of the Ukrainian national energy company Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, said that the country's energy system had suffered the largest attack «of all time.» According to him, the combined attacks hit a number of thermal and hydroelectric power plants. In turn, the Ukrhydroenergo company stated that hits were recorded on the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station and a dam located in the city of Zaporozhye, controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The upper part of the building is completely destroyed; it will take years to restore the power plant to its design state.
