MOSCOW, April 12< /strong> Filming of the second part of the family comedy “Cheburashka” will begin on May 1 with the same cast, producer Denis Zhalinsky announced at the in-person defense of the Cinema Fund.
«We have retained the entire cast. In just a few weeks, we begin filming, which will last until late autumn. Then there will be a long post-production period lasting more than a year with a huge amount of graphics and special effects. And we plan to release from January 1, 2026 «, Zhalinsky said at the Rossiya Segodnya multimedia press center.
According to the plot of the film's sequel, after a year of living together, Gena and Cheburashka began to have some disagreements. Cheburashka has grown up and, like a child, is looking for the boundaries of what is permitted, and Gena is trying to keep everything within limits. Everything is aggravated by the fact that they want to demolish Gena’s house for the construction of an amusement park. As a result of the conflict, Cheburashka runs away from home with Sonya and Grisha. Their dangerous journey ends on a stormy river.
The main roles in the first part of the film were played by Sergey Garmash, Elena Yakovleva, Polina Maksimova, Fyodor Dobronravov, Sergey Lavygin and others. Cheburashka was voiced by actress Olga Kuzmina. The director of the film was Dmitry Dyachenko.
The premiere took place on January 1, 2023. Within two weeks, the film became the highest-grossing film in the history of domestic distribution. Box office receipts in Russia and other CIS countries exceeded seven billion rubles.
