The Italian brand Abarth, now owned by the Stellantis corporation, this year celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding. On this occasion, as part of the Reloaded by Creators program, five copies of the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT coupe were released on an Alfa Romeo 4C chassis with an original body tail, reminiscent of the Fiat Abarth OT 1300 sports car of 1965.
The Reloaded by Creators program was launched by Stellantis in 2018 to highlight the most significant historical models from the Italian brands Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth. In 2021, as part of this program, a small-scale Abarth 1000 SP spider was presented, made as a tribute to the model of the same name from the mid-60s of the last century, bored out to a “liter” and boosted to 105 hp. engine from the Fiat 600. In turn, the 2021 model spider adopted the carbon fiber monocoque, chassis and power plant from the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, which had already been discontinued by that time.

For the 75th anniversary of Abarth, another retrospective model based on the Alfa Romeo 4C coupe has been prepared, it is called the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT and is dedicated to the rear-engine racing coupe Fiat Abarth OT 1300, produced from 1965 to 1968 and which won more than ten victories in its class, in including the 1000 km Monza and 1000 km Nürburgring races. The letters OT in the name stand for Omologate Turismo and mean the car is ready for racing. The Fiat Abarth OT 1300 used the chassis from the Fiat 850, but had an original streamlined body with a “periscope” on the roof — this is an air intake for interior ventilation. In the rear overhang was a 1298 cc 4-cylinder Abarth Simca engine with two Weber carburetors; it produced 147 hp. at 8800 rpm and accelerated the light 655-kilogram coupe to a maximum of 245 km/h. A 5-speed manual transmission sent all power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.

The modern Abarth Classiche 1300 OT, with its external carbon fiber cladding, quotes certain elements of its historical ancestor from 1965, including a “periscope”, but much less tall. The similarities between the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT and the 2021 Abarth 1000 SP spider are more obvious — not only because of the common technical basis, but also because these models share the same designer Roberto Giolito. The Abarth Classiche 1300 OT is more interesting in details than the Abarth 1000 SP: for example, the name Abarth is written in large letters in the grille between the rear lights, the reflectors and the exhaust pipe in the center of the rear bumper have become more elegant, and the wheel design is directly taken from the mid-1960s, only scaled .

The interior design of the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT, unfortunately, has not been revealed. Technical specifications have also not been announced, but they are most likely the same as those of the original coupe. Production Alfa Romeo 4C: 1.75-liter petrol “turbo-four” produces a maximum of 240 hp. and 350 Nm, it is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission of the DCT type (with two clutches), the drive wheels are rear. Alfa Romeo 4C will accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 257 km/h.

Spider Abarth 1000 SP 4/4 < p>All five manufactured copies of the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT have probably already been sold, their price has not been announced either. The Abarth 1000 SP spider cost about 200,000 euros, the coupe hardly has a lower price, rather the opposite — inflation since 2021 has made life noticeably more expensive.

We add that the Alfa Romeo 4C coupe, as part of the Reloaded by Creators program, returned to the market in 2023 as part of the Alfa Romeo 4C Designer's Cut piece project. Stellantis probably has several more unclaimed Alfa Romeo 4C kits in its stash, so other retrospective projects are not excluded.
