The premiere of the fourth generation crossover will take place in a few weeks, and the car will go on sale before the end of this year.
The Bavarian manufacturer BMW began producing the X3 (with the factory designation E83) in 2003, the second generation (F25) appeared in 2010, the “third” crossover (G01) was introduced in 2017, and it underwent a major update in 2021 . In addition, let us remind you that in 2020 a fully electric version of the SUV was sent into production, which received its own name — BMW iX3 (index — G08). The company is currently developing the fourth generation X3.

Photo spies had already caught the future new product in tests, and now, in On the eve of the imminent premiere, the crossover with the in-plant index G45 was tested by foreign colleagues. The pictures show camouflaged prototypes of the next-generation BMW X3 in plug-in hybrid and top-spec M Performance versions.
Exterior details of the new BMW X3 are hidden using camouflage film. It is expected that the “fourth” crossover will have a radiator grille that is more elongated in width, the wheel arches will become more pronounced due to a different topography, and the roofline will be more sloping. At the same time, the new product is obviously noticeably different from the previously shown Neue Klasse X concept, which is the prototype of the next all-electric iX3. Apparently, their appearance will have many differences.
As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the length of the new BMW X3 will be 4755 mm, width – 1920 mm, and height – 1660 mm; and the distance between the axles is 2865 mm. The current version is 40 mm shorter, 30 mm narrower and 7 mm higher. At the same time, its wheelbase is only 1 mm shorter; The front and rear tracks of the new product will be slightly wider. It is known that the aerodynamic drag coefficient decreased from 0.29 to 0.27.
The interior of the fourth generation SUV will have different seats, as well as a new front panel with a large horizontally elongated display, which combines both a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen of the infotainment system. The driver will face a new steering wheel, like the current BMW 5 series. The center console houses a different gear shifter, as well as a large compartment that contains a phone charging pad, cup holders and a pair of USB-C ports.
The new generation BMW X3 will continue to have versions equipped with petrol and diesel engines (as part of mild hybrid systems), as well as a PHEV unit, which will be based on a 2.0-liter turbo engine, working in tandem with an electric motor and a small battery. The top version is likely to be the M50 xDrive with a six-cylinder petrol engine. The model will continue to be based on the CLAR platform, while the future iX3 electric car will be based on the new Neue Klasse trolley.
The premiere of the fourth generation crossover is expected to take place in a few weeks, and the Bavarian crossover with an internal combustion engine will go on sale before the end of this year. Previously, the Kolesa.ru designer presented renderings demonstrating the potential appearance of the new BMW X3; the images were published last fall.
