In the Ketovsky district of the Kurgan region, the flow of the Tobol River destroyed two bridges. This was reported by local governor Vadim Shumkov.
The first bridge — a wooden one — was washed away near the village of Teplyakovo. The current carries it towards Kurgan, which creates a risk of congestion. Rescuers are trying to pull pieces of the crossing out of the water. The second bridge — a pontoon one — was torn down in the village of Laptev. Anchorages are holding it near the shore for now. As reported by RIA Novosti, Emergency Situations Ministry employees are trying to further secure the crossing.
Shumkov calls on the residents of Kurgan to evacuate. According to his information, the water level in Tobol has reached five meters — at six meters the flooding of the right bank of the river begins. He added that in the capital of the region, the authorities have deployed several dozen temporary accommodation centers.
In the Orenburg region, where heavy floods began in early April, the situation is stabilizing. Previously, a state of emergency was introduced in the region.
