CHELYABINSK, April 16The water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan, as of 18.00 (16.00 Moscow time) Tuesday, rose in the morning by 26 centimeters and reached 768 centimeters, the city administration reported.
As the city administration reported, at 08.00 (06.00 Moscow time) Monday the water level increased up to 631 centimeters, at 08.00 (06.00 Moscow time) Tuesday — up to 742 centimeters. The Ural Hydrometeorological Center predicted a continued rise in water in the Tobol River near Kurgan until April 18. The water level has exceeded the level of an unfavorable phenomenon — 700 centimeters — has been achieved, dangerous phenomena occur at 850 centimeters.
According to the geoportal, which tells about the flood in the Kurgan region, at 18.00 (16.00 Moscow time) Tuesday, the water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan is 768 centimeters.
The regional government reminds that the hydrometeorological center warned about worsening weather: on Tuesday, according to the forecast, precipitation in the region is expected to reach 14 mm per day, as well as southerly winds of up to 14 m/sec, which will accelerate the flow of water towards Kurgan.
A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Kurgan region. According to the forecast of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the flood period, 62 settlements, 4,300 houses, 5,550 household plots, 600 summer cottages may be flooded in the region, and 18,718 people may fall into the emergency zone.
According to the State Emergency Service, as of April 16, 305 residential buildings and 685 household plots remain flooded in 6 municipal districts. More than 13 thousand people were evacuated in the region, 16 temporary accommodation centers were deployed.
