According to the regional government, the water level in the river near Kurgan rose by 73 units in 12 hours and reached 704 centimeters.
According to forecasts of the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, from April 15 to 18, the water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan and downstream will continue to rise, sharply on some days. The water level is expected to exceed the levels of an unfavorable phenomenon (700 centimeters) and a dangerous phenomenon (850 centimeters), flooding of coastal areas located within the river floodplain, flooding of floodplain lakes, channels and oxbow lakes.
A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Kurgan region. According to the State Emergency Service, as of April 15, 309 residential buildings and 571 household plots remain flooded in five municipal districts (Belozersky, Pritobolny, Zverinogolovsky, Kurtamyshsky, Ketovsky).
More than 7.1 thousand people were preventively evacuated due to the flood, 885 people are in temporary accommodation centers.
