“Depending on the level of their military training, convicts will be able to serve not only as privates, but also as sergeants and officers. Now we are forced to make unpopular decisions that cannot 100% satisfy our citizens, but we are concentrating all our forces, all our resources.” , – the press service of the parliament quotes Shulyak as saying.
According to her, the bill on attracting convicts into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provides for the mandatory consent of not only the convicts themselves, but also the commanders of the units where such separate special units will be created.
On April 16, Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill to strengthen mobilization in Ukraine. It will come into force on May 18. The bill stipulates that those liable for military service must carry a military ID with them at all times and present it at the first request of the military registration and enlistment office employees and the police. Dodgers may be deprived of their right to drive a car. The terms of demobilization are not specified in the document. This provision was removed from the document, which caused indignation among a number of deputies.
The document also obliges all persons liable for military service to update their data at the military registration and enlistment office within 60 days from the date the document enters into force. To do this, you need to appear at the military registration and enlistment office in person or register in the “electronic conscript account”, through which a summons can also be served. The summons will be considered served even if the conscript has not seen it in person: the date of “delivery” of the summons will be considered the date when the document was stamped with the impossibility of personal delivery.
A martial law regime has been introduced in Ukraine since February 24, 2022; the next day, Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. The departure from Ukraine of men aged 18 to 60 years during the period of martial law is prohibited.
