The FSB reported on the detention of the second defendant in the case of mining the car of ex-SBU officer Prozorov

The FSB detained a courier who delivered to Russia the components of a radio-controlled bomb to blow up the car of former SBU officer Vasily Prozorov, according to the agency’s website.

The detainee is a citizen of Russia and Moldova, born in 1994. In a video published by government agencies, he says that he is engaged in “cargo delivery and private transportation from the CIS countries and Eastern Europe.” His face is hidden in the recording.

According to the FSB, SBU officers disguised the components of the bomb as manicure tools and hair care products. A resident of Warsaw, the department claims, sent them by parcel to Lithuania, where the components were picked up by a detained courier. He brought them to Moscow by car and handed them over to a Russian, whom the FSB calls an SBU agent. He assembled a bomb and installed it under Prozorov’s car.

Prozorov’s Toyota Land Cruiser Prado exploded on April 12 in the Degunino district of Moscow. The 48-year-old owner of the car was then hospitalized with injuries to his arm and leg.

On April 16, the FSB announced the detention of the first suspect in the mining case — a 40-year-old Russian, who said on camera in the security forces' car that since 2010 lived in Ukraine, and in November 2023 he was “recruited as an SBU officer.” After this, the man returned to Russia, began to monitor Prozorov’s car and assembled a bomb, according to the FSB.

Prozorov said that he served in the SBU department for the Zaporozhye region, “several years ago he moved to Russia, and before that, since 2014, he collaborated with the Russian special services.” According to representatives of the SBU, he was fired for “systematic consumption of alcohol in the workplace” and “discrediting the rank of an officer.”

In 2019, Prozorov held a press conference in Moscow about his escape from Ukraine. He publishes books and regularly gives interviews and comments to Russian pro-government publications, for example, Lente.ru and Izvestia.
