BEIJING, Apr 18 Beijing is calling on Washington to immediately lift increased tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum, China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement Thursday.
The White House previously announced a decision to triple import duties on steel and aluminum from China. According to US President Joe Biden, the decision to increase a number of import duties will not lead to a deterioration in his relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“We urge the United States to take care of its own problems, stop increasing duties on Chinese products and immediately cancel additional duties imposed on China,” the department said in a statement.
It is noted that “China will take all necessary measures to protect its rights and interests.”
At the same time, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China noted that US pressure on other countries to limit Chinese products will undermine the security and stability of global production and supply chains.
