In the Samara region, two 16-year-old schoolchildren were detained, suspected of setting fire to an Mi-8 helicopter at the Kryazh military airfield near Samara. This was reported by deputy Alexander Khinshtein, a former adviser to the director of the Russian Guard.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the arson of the Mi-8 on the afternoon of April 17. The post was accompanied by a blurry video showing the outline of a helicopter in the night and fire. Kommersant, citing sources, and after it Khinshtein, claim that the helicopter was not “destroyed,” as Ukrainian military intelligence wrote.
The Investigative Committee is investigating the arson under the article of attempted terrorist attack (part 3 Article 30, part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code).
The detained schoolchildren live in Togliatti. The security forces explained their actions as “an assignment from the Ukrainian special services” and linked them with other arson attacks in the region. These are the arson attacks on a cell phone tower in Tolyatti, a non-working train at the Zhigulevskoye More railway station and two relay cabinets on the railway in the village of Borovka, which is located 150 km from Samara and Tolyatti.
