MOSCOW, April 19 The opening ceremony of the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) began with a minute of silence in memory of victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, the correspondent reports.
The Moscow International Film Festival opens in the Russian capital for the 46th time on April 19 and will last until April 26.
«Friends, before you say a few words from myself, to greet you and rejoice together at our 46th meeting in Moscow, I will ask you all to rise and remember that just recently a monstrous tragedy occurred at Crocus, people died,” said Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
MIFF is one of the oldest festivals in the world, it was first held in 1935, the chairman of the jury was director Sergei Eisenstein. Since 1959, the festival began to be held regularly. Over the past 20 years, the festival jury has been headed by the world's largest filmmakers, including Richard Gere, Theo Angelopoulos, Alan Parker, Luc Besson, Hector Babenco, Kim Kiduk.
