MOSCOW, April 20 Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee Ukraine on issues of humanitarian and information policy Nikita Poturaev proposed introducing military censorship in the country, which, according to him, would give the necessary powers to the authorities.
«I, as the head of the committee, am forced to think about military censorship. Because military censorship is not only content restrictions, it is also additional powers,» Poturaev said in an interview published on the YouTube channel » Telegraph».
According to him, these powers are needed to find people who write about corruption in the work of the TCC (territorial recruitment center — the new name for military registration and enlistment offices in Ukraine), that TCC employees “grab people on the street” and send without preparation for the front.
As the parliamentarian emphasized, such activities undermine the functioning of government departments.
Earlier, Andrei Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, called Telegram a threat to the country's security. As Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, previously stated, bans and blockings are a last resort that the authorities can use only when there is a critical need.
The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported in March that the authorities had created a list of 355 resources that allegedly deal with disinformation on Telegram, including Russian media, including TASS, RT in Russian, Komsomolskaya Pravda , «Ukraina.ru». The list also included the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian publication «Strana» — «Country Politics» and the channel of the Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy.
