On April 1, the general director of the Sollers company, Vadim Shvetsov, which owns the UAZ, announced his intention to release a new model that will gradually replace the Patriot. At first it was perceived as an April Fool's joke, but now they are talking about it quite seriously. By the way, earlier information about a possible crossover under the UAZ brand repeatedly appeared, but in the end it was abandoned. What then can Ulyanovsk residents imagine next year? The project is unofficially called “Russian Prado” or “Patriot 2020”. You shouldn’t expect a completely new car — UAZ doesn’t have the resources for it. This will be a deeply modified Patriot — with a new frame, independent suspension at the front and spring-dependent at the rear, and also, apparently, with a gasoline turbo engine. In this way, UAZ hopes to solve the key problems of the current Patriot — poor handling and dynamics.
But since the car should not radically rise in price, savings will inevitably be made. Most likely — on body panels, which will be partially carried over from the current Patriot. At the same time, the car will receive new headlights, a bumper and a radiator grill, which is also due to the desire to make the car more injury-proof for pedestrians.
The rear of the car will probably undergo changes as well. So, the spare wheel may disappear from the trunk door — this way they will fight the sagging of the door. The spare wheel will apparently move under the bottom. In addition, we have depicted an option with new LED lights and a different bumper.
It is expected that the cost of the new product will be approximately at the same level as Chinese SUVs, that is, around 1.5 million rubles.
