YEKATERINBURG, April 26 Yekaterinburg police officers are checking a family in which the parents forced their 11-year-old son to eat cigarettes; the parents may face a criminal case for child abuse, they reported in the press service of the city Department of Internal Affairs.

Currently, juvenile affairs officers of the territorial police department are carrying out verification activities, and a visit to the teenager’s place of residence was carried out to check his living conditions «, said the agency's interlocutor. 
< br />According to him, an administrative protocol will be drawn up against the boy’s legal representatives for the parents’ failure to fulfill their obligations to support and raise the child. Law enforcement officers also collected characterizing material to make a decision on initiating a criminal case for cruelty to a minor.
According to the police, the information will be sent to the department of social policy and the territorial commission for minors to register the family for preventive registration.
Earlier, local media wrote that the boy was hospitalized after how his stepfather forced him to eat 8 cigarettes. The reason for the educational measures was allegedly that the parents caught the child smoking.
