MOSCOW, April 28 Chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin ordered to open a criminal case after the beating of a veteran of a special military operation and his wife in Rostov-on -Don, reports the department’s Telegram channel.
On Saturday, information appeared on social networks that in the Suvorovsky microdistrict of Rostov-on-Don, several attackers beat up a special operation veteran and his wife; the woman was diagnosed with a broken leg, bruises to the head, chest and lower back, and the man had multiple head bruises. According to the victim, the attackers allegedly expressed their hatred on ethnic grounds and filmed what was happening. She also said that her husband was awarded a medal for the capture of Bakhmut. 
«The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Bastrykin A.I. instructed the acting head of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Department of Russia for the Rostov region Kovalev S.Yu. to initiate a criminal case on this fact, within the framework of which also to give a legal assessment of the statements of young people» , — the message says.
The police confirmed that they received a message about a conflict between citizens in the Suvorovsky microdistrict, and that three men were detained who, during the conflict, “injured a man and a woman.”
The police did not specify whether the conflict arose based on interethnic hatred, and whether the attack was related to the participation of a Rostov resident in a special operation. There is also no official confirmation that the injured man and woman are spouses.
As the press service of the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the region clarified, an investigation is currently underway, during which investigators will determine the severity of the harm caused to the health of the victims and make a decision “in accordance with the law.”
