ST. PETERSBURG, April 26. President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.
“I would like to thank you for the support of the city — very significant, significant support. Thanks to you, St. Petersburg is confidently moving and developing as a metropolis of the 21st century,” said the head of the city .
Putin noted the high demographic indicators of St. Petersburg: life expectancy is higher than the national average — 76.6 versus 73.4 years, and the number of large families has increased by thirty percent over five years. Beglov appreciated the contribution of national projects to this.
In addition, the Russian leader pointed to the high growth rate of industrial production in St. Petersburg — three times higher than in the country. The governor, in turn, reported an improvement in the situation in the city's automobile industry.

The governor added that St. Petersburg has already restored and built 40 social facilities in the sponsored Mariupol, and another 23 facilities will be commissioned this year.
Following the meeting, Beglov said that Putin supported his participation in the upcoming elections of the head of the city.
