CHELYABINSK, April 27 Acting head of Kurgan Anastasia Argysheva resigned at her own request, the director of the social policy department, Yulia Guryanova, was appointed acting head of the city, the press service of the city administration reported on Saturday.
“Today, April 27, 2024, at an extraordinary meeting of the Kurgan City Duma, a decision was made to early terminate the powers of the acting head of the city of Kurgan, Anastasia Argysheva. Anastasia Argysheva resigned of her own free will,” the message says.
The temporary execution of the powers of the city head is entrusted to the deputy head of the city, director of the social policy department Yulia Guryanova, the message clarifies. “Yulia Ivanovna performed well in carrying out evacuation measures, and now continues to coordinate work on payments to flood victims,” explains the press service.
Earlier, at a meeting on eliminating the consequences of floods in Russian regions, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin was surprised by the absence of the head of Kurgan and asked where the head of the city was. The governor of the region, Vadim Shumkov, informed the president that the head of Kurgan resigned at the beginning of this year, and Anastasia Argysheva was appointed acting. The president added that “then it is necessary to carry out appropriate measures, organize elections normally.”
At the end of December 2023, it became known that the head of Kurgan, Elena Sitnikova, had been detained by security forces. According to the Kurgan City Court, she is charged under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence); Sitnikova’s court chose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions and an obligation to appear when summoned by an investigator or to court. On January 10, 2024, the City Duma decided to terminate Sitnikova’s powers early; she resigned “of her own free will for health reasons.”
