MOSCOW, May 2. Sales of Lada cars in Russia in April increased by almost 65% year on year, to 45.6 thousand units, breaking the brand's monthly record for the last 12 years, AvtoVAZ said in a statement.
“At the end of April 2024, sales of Lada commercial and passenger vehicles in Russia amounted to 45,551 units, which is a new absolute maximum since 2012 and 64.8% higher than in April 2023,” the company noted.
At the same time, in January-April of this year, the brand’s sales also show positive dynamics: an increase of 49.2% in annual terms, to 137 thousand cars.
Granta traditionally remains the best-selling Lada model, which this April reached the monthly peak in sales in its history: they grew in annual terms by 7.7%, to 21.4 thousand cars. In four months, 64 thousand units were sold, which corresponds to the level of the same period last year.
Lada Vesta also updated its maximum: 13.5 thousand cars were sold during April. In just 4 months, 36.8 thousand new generation Lada Vestas were sold. Niva Legend in April sold 4.8 thousand units (+42.1%), Niva Travel — 5.2 thousand SUVs (33.8%). Sales of Lada commercial vehicles in April 2024 amounted to 629 units (+111.8%).
AvtoVAZ owns production sites in Tolyatti and Izhevsk. In mid-May 2022, the French Renault transferred its share in AvtoVAZ (67.69%) to the state ownership of the Russian Federation. Now the brand consists of four families of models: Vesta, Largus, Granta and Niva. Sales of Lada cars in 2023 amounted to 352.6 thousand units (almost doubling).
