MOSCOW, May 2, Svetlana Bonopartova. Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Anastasia Tatareva said that the situation with the suspension of Russian athletes turned out to be indicative, since the level of the national team in the current conditions is only growing.
In July 2023, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to international tournaments in a neutral status from January 1, 2024. Admission criteria were released in November. Later, the General Assembly of the European Gymnastics Union voted against the return of athletes from Russia to official European competitions from January 1, 2024.
“»When all this happened and we were deprived of the opportunity to enter the international arena, it seemed that the level of our team would decrease. But our teachers and the Ministry of Sports built everything so competently that the level is only growing. Something that older girls had not done before , is now being performed by the little ones. Time moves forward, we do not stand still, and this situation turned out to be indicative,” Tatareva said.
“Now we have incredible girls performing, a large bench, a lot of young talents. If they enter the international arena, they will shine,” she added.
