CHISINAU, May 2. Memory campaign dedicated to on the 10th anniversary of the tragedy in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa, was held at the Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau, the correspondent reports.
«They intimidated Odessa residents and Ukrainians. They showed the whole world that at that moment Ukraine left the legal field and moved into the field of totalitarianism. What happened in Odessa became a point of no return. And what is happening now in Ukraine is causal “an investigative connection, why this is happening,” said the deputy chairman of the Patriots of Moldova party, Artem Guryev, during the action.
Activists brought with them portraits of Odessa residents who died in the House of Trade Unions and lit candles.
In Odessa, after the coup d'etat in Ukraine in 2014, anti-Maidan activists set up a tent camp on the Kulikovo Field as a sign of protest. On the afternoon of May 2, in the area of Greek Square, fights began between “anti-Maidan” activists, on the one hand, and football “ultras” from Kharkov and Odessa, as well as “Euromaidan” participants, on the other. The tent city was destroyed, after which supporters of the coup and nationalists set fire to the House of Trade Unions, in which representatives of the “anti-Maidan” took refuge. 48 people became victims of the tragedy that day, more than 250 were injured.
