MOSCOW, May 2 Ethical Capital Partners, owner of PornHub — one of the most popular porn sites in the world, has registered as a VAT payer as an electronic service provider in Ukraine, said the head of the Verkhovna Rada Tax Committee Daniil Getmantsev in the Telegram channel.
«The company that owns the PornHub service has finally registered as a VAT payer as a provider of electronic services. Therefore, now you can monitor the conscientious payment of taxes,” Getmantsev wrote.
He added that in Ukraine the company continues to declare declarations for non-resident persons carrying out transactions for the supply of electronic services to individuals. Thus, in the first quarter of 2024, 17 new taxpayers were added in Ukraine; they declared their tax liabilities in the amount of $32.6 million. The largest of them are Google, Apple, META platforms (Meta’s activities are prohibited in Russia as extremist), Valve corporation. As a “positive” example, Getmantsev cited the adult industry platform Onlyfans, which has paid 700 thousand dollars to the budget of Ukraine since the beginning of the year.
He also stated that Ukraine ranks 14th in terms of PornHub views place.
In December last year, Getmantsev reported that Ukraine fined him 5.5 thousand dollars for refusing to register in the country and pay taxes.
In the summer of 2023, a bill on the decriminalization of porn was registered in the Rada, suggesting the revision of two articles of criminal law Code of Ukraine — 301, which concerns the import, production and distribution of pornography, as well as 302, which concerns the organization of “places of debauchery”.
