A section of the Perm-Ekaterinburg highway was opened for trucks

YEKATERINBURG, May 4. The section of the federal highway Perm — Ekaterinburg from 162 to 352 kilometers, previously closed to trucks due to ice and snow, reopened, reports the press service of the Sverdlovsk traffic police department.
On Friday, a section of the Perm-Ekaterinburg federal highway from kilometers 162 to 352, from the Achinsk district of the Sverdlovsk region to the capital of the Urals, was temporarily blocked for freight transport due to heavy snow and ice.

“Freight traffic has resumed, restrictions have been lifted,” the message says.

Heavy snowfall covered Yekaterinburg and the region on Saturday night. According to the latest data from the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, the largest amount of snow fell overnight in Sverdlovsk Revda — 30 millimeters; in Yekaterinburg, about 9 millimeters of snow fell overnight. On Sunday, the weather in the region promises to be fine, with only light snow possible, forecasters say. In turn, the Yekaterinburg mayor's office has already called the heavy May snowfall in the capital of the Urals a “natural emergency.”
As the regional prosecutor's office clarified, about 74 thousand people in 24 settlements of the Sverdlovsk region were left without electricity due to bad weather. Now specialists are restoring power supply; according to the Rosseti Ural company, such consequences of snowfall have not been observed in the network complex of the Middle Urals for the last 20 years.
Due to ice, some of the roads in the Sverdlovsk region were blocked for trucks and buses. Six long-distance trains and four commuter trains are delayed due to icing of wires on sections in the Sverdlovsk region, while Koltsovo airport in Yekaterinburg operates as normal.
