MOSCOW, May 3. Danish teenagers from 15 years old will have the opportunity to have an abortion without parental consent, and the period for termination of pregnancy in the country is increasing to the 18th week, reports the Danish Ministry of Health.
““The threshold for termination of pregnancy is moved to the 18th week of pregnancy… At the same time, 15-17 year old teenagers are given the opportunity to have an abortion without parental consent,” the department’s press release says.
As noted, extending the period of access to abortion is necessary in order to give women more time and opportunity to act on the information they receive during prenatal examinations. It is also reported that the minimum age for sexual activity in the country is 15 years old, which means a person can “make a choice regarding his body.”
According to the press release, the changes will take effect from June 2025.
