TEL AVIV, May 5Israeli police and communications ministry inspectors raided the Jerusalem offices of Qatar's Al Jazeera television channel and confiscated equipment following the Israeli cabinet's decision on Sunday to stop broadcasting TV channel in the country.
Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karii posted a video of the searches on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by the caption that “Inspectors from the Ministry of Communications, with the support of the Israeli police, are currently conducting searches at the Al-Jazeera office in Jerusalem and confiscate the channel's equipment.»
Previously in On Sunday, the Israeli cabinet voted unanimously to close the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera in the country.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, after the vote, the Minister of Communications signed orders to close the channel, which take effect immediately.
““Al-Jazeera reporters harmed the security of Israel and incited against soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). It is time to remove the mouthpiece of Hamas from our country,” Netanyahu’s office released the statement.
Government-approved measures include closing the channel's offices in Israel, confiscating broadcast equipment, blocking the broadcast of the channel's reports, removing the channel from cable and satellite television, blocking the channel's websites, etc.
