Supporters of Igor Strelkov from the Tula region spoke about searches due to the inscription “Freedom for Strelkov” on a waste heap

In the Tula region, on May 4, searches took place at the homes of several supporters of Igor Strelkov (Girkin), reported the Russian Strelkov Movement (RDS) and Z-blogger Mikhail Polynkov.

Another Z-blogger Ivan Otrakovsky names at least two people whose houses were searched. This is Polynkov’s father Vladimir and RDS member Alexander Omelchenko. Baza claims that a total of three people came to see them. They were all released, Omelchenko's phone was confiscated.

According to Polynkov, “representatives of almost all special services, and first of all the FSB,” came to see their comrades, and the Novomoskovsk City Court issued permission to search.

Strelkov’s supporters do not publish the document itself. They claim that it mentioned the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) fighting on the side of Ukraine and the inscription “Freedom to Strelkov”, which at the end of April appeared on a waste heap in the city of Donskoy, Tula Region.

“According to the ruling of the court of the city of Novomoskovsk, Tula region, it was those who wished to join the RDK who placed the inscription on the waste heap,” writes Polynkov.

After the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, the former “Minister of Defense of the DPR” Igor Strelkov began to criticize the Russian leadership, including Vladimir Putin, for insufficient determination. In July 2023, Strelkov was detained because of two posts on his Telegram channel, in which the FSB found calls for extremism (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code). He was sentenced to four years in prison.

In November 2022, a court in The Hague sentenced Strelkov to life imprisonment in absentia, finding him guilty of involvement in the crash of Boeing MH17, shot down in 2014 in the skies over Donbass. In an interview with the newspaper Zavtra, ex-FSB officer Strelkov also insisted that it was he who “pulled the trigger of war” in 2014. His squad occupied a police station in Slavyansk in southeastern Ukraine in April 2014 and opened fire there.
