The FSB reported on the detention in Tambov of a Russian who “at the direction of the Ukrainian special services was planning to carry out explosions near the buildings of the Tambov regional and arbitration courts.” The department's press release is quoted by TASS and RIA Novosti.
A man born in 1980 was noticed by Russian Railways employees; According to the FSB, he “placed unknown objects in construction waste.” Special service officers who arrived at the scene “found two homemade explosive devices, which were neutralized by explosives experts,” the department said in a statement.
In a video published by the FSB, the detainee says on camera that in the summer of 2023 “he began visiting terrorist websites organizations «Russian Volunteer Corps» and the Legion «Freedom of Russia», and then «entered into correspondence with a representative of the Ukrainian special services,» who, according to the man, «incited him to commit sabotage and terrorist acts on Russian territory.»
It is not specified when exactly the man was detained. A criminal case has been opened regarding preparation for a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). The court sent the detainee under arrest.
At the end of April, the FSB reported the detention of a Tambov resident born in 1995, who, according to the agency, was going to “undermine an energy infrastructure facility and set fire to one of the administrative buildings,” after which he wanted leave Russia.
