A member of the “Union of Donbass Volunteers” from Cherepovets, Yuriy Markov, stopped publishing photos, videos and information about the funerals of soldiers killed in the war in Ukraine, “so that there would be no problems.” Markov reported this on his VKontakte page.
The police asked the man to stop publishing, writes the Region35.Info community with reference to Markov himself. He told Gorodche.ru that the police in the conversation referred to requests from loved ones of the military personnel who died in Ukraine. “They complained specifically about my photos and videos of the soldiers’ funerals. Many people don’t like the comments, saying that some are glad that the soldiers died. I didn't think there would be so many readers. He promised not to post it again. And I always keep my promises. But sometimes people write to me who didn’t even know that their neighbor or acquaintance had died,” Markov said.
On his page, the war participant also wrote that the ban on filming came from the military commissar of Cherepovets. According to Markov, he wanted to film the memorial service for the dead “for his archive and not post it online,” but the military commissar saw it and said: “I will be obliged to report to the city authorities,” the man claims. “This is how we, civilians, are prohibited from filming the history of Russia. I think the death of the guys is the history of the country,” Markov commented on the conversation with the military commissar.
The death and funeral of at least several residents of Cherepovets became known only from Markov’s publications — the authorities did not report this, notes Region35.Info. News about their death with reference to the man was often published by Cpv.ru and other publications.
Markov participated in the Russian invasion of Crimea and Donbass — he fought in 2015 near Debaltsevo, where active fighting took place. The man is included in the Peacemaker database. In 2022, Markov again went to war with Ukraine as a volunteer.
