MOSCOW, May 6. Two-time European weightlifting champion, Ukrainian Alexander Peleshenko died on May 5 during combat operations in the Northern Military District zone, according to the NOC of Ukraine Telegram page.
The weightlifter joined the ranks of the Ukrainian army in 2022. At the time of his death, Peleshenko was 30 years old.
Peleshenko won gold at the European Championships 2016 and 2017 in the weight category up to 85 kg, and at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro he took fourth place.
