In addition, the four-door has a new top-end configuration. The model is global, but it bears a name well known to Russians only in one market.
Before finally leaving Russia, our Volkswagen Polo managed to turn from a sedan into a liftback based on the Skoda Rapid (Skoda also left the Russian Federation). But in South Africa, a four-door with the same name is present: there, under the guise of the latest generation Polo Sedan, a restyled Indian-made VW Virtus has been sold since the fall of 2022. Previously, the model was available in South Africa with no alternative aspirated 1.6 MPI (110 hp, 152 Nm), but now the range has been expanded.

Thus, the African sedan acquired a 1.0 TSI petrol turbo engine, which produces 116 hp. and 178 Nm (the Indian source originally had such an engine). The engine is combined exclusively with a classic six-speed automatic transmission, while the VW Polo Sedan with 1.6 MPI also comes with a five-speed manual. It is stated that the turbo version will reach the first “hundred” in 11.5 seconds. A four-door with a naturally aspirated engine and automatic will complete this exercise in 12.2 seconds, with a 5-speed manual transmission in 11.2 seconds.

Previously, the Polo sedan was presented in only two trim levels, now another one has appeared — the new top version of Style. Its features include extended chrome trim on the outside, 17-inch wheels instead of 16-inch ones, a rain sensor, a sunroof and “leather” upholstery. The basic African four-door has regular air conditioning and a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen. Other versions include a 10-inch tablet, climate control, a rear view camera and wireless charging for a smartphone. The virtual tidy, which is available on the original VW Virtus, is not available in South Africa even for an additional fee.
In local currency, a Volkswagen Polo Sedan with an aspirated 1.6 MPI now costs approximately 1.78 million — 1.94 million rubles, a four-door with 1.0 TSI will cost somewhere between 2 million — 2.25 million rubles.
