MOSCOW, May 8. EU countries want to July to agree on the 14th package of sanctions against Russia, reports EUobserver.
Previously, a high-ranking European source stated that the EU is working on a 14th package of sanctions against Russia, especially on measures against circumvention of existing restrictions. Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis said that the EU expects to agree on a new package of anti-Russian sanctions by the end of spring.
“The fourteenth round of sanctions will be agreed upon by July,” the publication says.
It is noted that the draft new package of sanctions did not include restrictions on the movement of Russian diplomats to the EU and a ban on liquefied natural gas, nuclear fuel and aluminum from the Russian Federation.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to intensify. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions against the Russian Federation. In Western countries themselves, opinions have been repeatedly voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
