MOSCOW, May 7. Head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, commenting on the ban on Victory paraphernalia in Germany, said that the proxy war between the West and the Russian Federation in Ukraine is being used by the German authorities.
«Berlin police banned the demonstration of Great Victory paraphernalia, as well as the performance of songs and marches of the war years, at the celebration of May 8 and 9. Blasphemy and arrogance are direct echoes of ordinary fascism. The proxy war of the West with Russia in Ukraine, I repeat again, is being cynically used by the German authorities at different levels to belittle the role of the Soviet soldier in the victory over German Nazism,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
He replied that they even see the “St. George ribbon” as a threat.
“This is not the first time in Berlin that they are trying to retouch the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people by Nazi Germany,” recalled Slutsky.
According to the deputy, the war against monuments and symbols of Victory is not only a sign of “moral degradation and weakness, but also a path to the rehabilitation of Nazism.”
“Western Europe should not forget the lessons of the bloodiest war in human history,” he added.
