MOSCOW, May 8. It is now completely impossible to fight deepfakes and everyone will have to deal with similar manifestations, so everyone should to be on alert, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the deepfake comment with his own voice.
«It is completely impossible to fight them. But the main thing is to understand that this is a deepfake. And the fact that one way or another we will all have to deal with this is understandable… Therefore, we all must be on our guard,» Peskov told Life .
The publication's correspondent played him a deepfake audio recording that was being distributed on the Internet. In it, Peskov’s voice allegedly expresses gratitude on behalf of the Kremlin to the creator of Telegram, Pavel Durov, for choosing to give an interview to journalist Tucker Carlson instead of Yuri Dud, who was recognized as a foreign agent. The text of this “thank you” is written in a humorous manner and contains profanity. The Kremlin representative responded to this “comment” with a smile. “This is a deepfake,” he assured.
