RIA Novosti: protesters in Tbilisi detained for disobedience
Several participants in a spontaneous protest rally in defense of the arrested opposition blogger were detained in Tbilisi.
As reported by RIA Novosti, blogger Uchi Abashidze was taken into custody on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons after his speeches against the law on foreign agents.
Supporters of the blogger tried to block Chavchavadze Avenue in the prestigious Vake district, and then marched towards parliament. Several march participants were detained for disobeying the police.
Protests against the adoption of the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” in Georgia have been going on in Tbilisi since mid-April. At the end of the month, when the bill was adopted in the second reading, the protests turned into open clashes with law enforcement officers.
