MOSCOW, May 8. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the EAEU summit in Moscow that one of the important directions of the EAEU is to strengthen food security; the Union is able to provide food to 600 million people.
“Everyone knows that the Eurasian region has one of the highest production, resource and export potentials in the world. In the context of population growth and limited resources in other macro-regions, we have the opportunity to provide food for about 600 million people. At the same time, the role of the Union in ensuring global food supply security will only increase. Our strategic vision is to transform the agricultural sector into a high-tech industry. To achieve this, it is extremely important to take concerted measures to introduce breakthrough innovative technologies based on artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and agroscience,” Tokayev noted.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an international integration economic association operating since January 1, 2015. Its participants are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The Union is one of the largest economic associations with the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor. The meeting of the EAEU leaders is timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the signing of the treaty establishing the union.
