MOSCOW, May 12. Ukraine is losing badly and quickly in the conflict with Russia, says former US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst Larry Johnson.
In an interview with the Dialogue Works Youtube channel, the analyst commented on the early statement of French President Emmanuel Macron to send military personnel to Ukraine, as well as the call of the French and British ambassadors to the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to him, the Russian Federation feels “growing despair” on the part of the West regarding the situation in Ukraine.
«The Ukrainians are losing, they're losing hard and fast,» Johnson said.
Previously, Michael Kimmage, a former employee of the policy planning department of the State Department, where he was responsible for policy towards Russia and Ukraine, stated that the United States and Ukraine could be on the verge of defeat in the conflict by the beginning of 2025. As Kimmage writes, a loss in the Ukrainian conflict would be a serious blow to the authority of the United States in the world.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the summons of the British ambassador. He was expressed a strong protest in connection with Foreign Minister David Cameron's statement about Kyiv's right to strike Russia with British weapons. The ambassador was warned that the response to Ukrainian strikes using British weapons on Russian territory could be any British military facilities and equipment on the territory of Ukraine and beyond. Later, a representative of the British Foreign Office reported that British Ambassador Nigel Casey was not summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, he had a diplomatic meeting.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also previously reported that the previously summoned French Ambassador to Russia Pierre Levy was told by the department about the destructive and provocative line of Paris, leading to a further escalation of the conflict around Ukraine. The Russian diplomatic department clarified that the summons of the ambassador was connected with “increasingly belligerent statements by the French leadership and incoming information about France’s increasing involvement in the conflict around Ukraine.”
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin called its goal “the protection of people who have been subjected to abuse and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” He noted that the special operation was a forced measure; Russia “was left no chance to do otherwise; security risks were created such that it was impossible to respond by other means.”
