ST. PETERSBURG, May 14. A stateless Estonian resident tried to bring an underwater drone into Russia for sale; it was seized at the border, the press service of the Russian Federal Customs Service reported.
“The unmanned underwater vehicle was seized by Kingisepp customs officers at the Ivangorod checkpoint. A 50-year-old stateless man living in Estonia tried to bring the device into Russia,” the report says.

As the Federal Customs Service said, when scanning the man’s case, the inspector saw inside a “technically complex structure with components,” which turned out to be an eight-propeller Chasing M2 drone with a wide-angle camera made in China. According to the labeling, the product is a professional underwater drone.

As the owner of the underwater drone explained, he was taking the drone, which had already been in operation, to St. Petersburg for sale. Now an administrative case has been opened against the man under the article on non-declaration of goods, which provides for the confiscation of the drone.
