ICR: the case of the death of a trainee sailor in the Sea of Japan was transferred to the prosecutor

In the Primorsky Territory, an investigation into the death of a student who was undergoing internship as a sailor on a ship on a voyage in the Sea of Japan has been completed.
As told at the regional headquarters of the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred in the fall of 2022. A third-year student at the Kerch Maritime College was employed as a sailor on a ship under an employment contract as part of his industrial practice. At the same time, he did not have the knowledge and skills necessary for a sailor.
On one of the days of the voyage, the student was choosing ropes on the deck, one of the ropes broke, hit the sailor, and he hit his head on the deck, dying on the spot from the injury injuries.
As investigators found out, the ship went to sea “in an unseaworthy condition”; the crew did not have qualifications or protective equipment. Charges of violation of labor safety rules and negligence were brought against the general director of the shipping company MSK Vostoktransservice, the captain of the ship, as well as the management and officials of the Kerch Maritime College.
The case materials were sent to the prosecutor, the accused and their defense attorneys.< /p>
