ANKARA, May 14.Turkish exporters lost hundreds of millions of dollars in the first four months of this year due to problems with bank payments from Russia to Turkey, said economic observer Mustafa Recep Ercin.
The situation around payment transfers from the Russian Federation to Turkey remains tense, the West is deliberately destroying Russian-Turkish trade and economic cooperation, Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexey Erkhov said in mid-April.
«Unfortunately, we observe from export participants that problems in settlements with Russia continue and in the first four months of the year, losses amounted to hundreds of millions of dollars,» the agency's interlocutor said.
Speaking about the likely payment difficulties for Russian tourists on the eve of the season, the expert noted that Turkey has introduced a number of applications that allow paying with new generation funds.
“Russian tourists will be able to spend their money in Turkey by loading it onto prepaid cards. I believe that travel agencies will also inform guests about this,” he said.
Erkhov previously reported that the Americans are “terrorizing” Turkish businesses working with Russia, and pressure on these companies from Washington is contrary to the norms of interstate communication. The diplomat clarified that the problem with payment transfers from Russia to Turkey largely remains, and work continues to resolve it. At the same time, a source in the banking sector, in a conversation with the agency, emphasized that the United States is warning Turkish private banks about the need to carefully check payment transfers, reaching a threatening tone.
