The increase in the gross regional product (GRP) of Tatarstan due to the introduction of artificial intelligence in 2030 is estimated at 345.8 billion rubles. This was announced by First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin during a working trip to Kazan. He also spoke about the multifaceted interaction between Sber and Tatarstan on the development and implementation of artificial intelligence.

Tatarstan became one of the first regions of the country in which a new position of commissioner for AI technologies was created and approved. The Ministry of Digital Development, IT and Communications of Tatarstan has introduced a new position — AI-ombudsman. This was Bulat Zamaliev, who oversees the strategy for introducing AI technologies at the republican level. Zamaliev is known primarily as the developer of the “Digital Village” social project. This set of services for rural residents was designed to provide access to new technologies for areas cut off from IT infrastructure and help them be included in economic product sales chains. Zamaliev was invited to work at the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Tatarstan in December 2019. Along with the position of AI ombudsman, he took the post of adviser to the relevant minister. The Ombudsman will have to develop a strategy for the development of AI by the authorities of the republic, identify socially significant areas for the introduction of new algorithms and help avoid risks associated with AI violating ethical standards.
“There are no analogues to such work in other regions yet. I invite other constituent entities of the Russian Federation to support Tatarstan’s initiative and introduce AI ombudsmen in their regions,” commented First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin.
He added that the increase in Tatarstan’s GRP due to the introduction of artificial intelligence in 2030 is estimated at 345.8 billion rubles. The ratio of Tatarstan's GRP growth thanks to AI in 2030 to the current GRP will be 8.3%.
