GENEVA, May 22. The Swiss Air Force will restrict air space in the Lucerne area from June 13 to 17 to ensure the security of the high-level peace conference on Ukraine, which will take place on June 15-16, according to a statement published on the website of the country's Federal Council.
«The Federal Council, at its meeting on May 22, 2024, approved a temporary restriction of the use of airspace during the high-level conference on peace in Ukraine, organized by Switzerland on June 15 and 16, 2024 in Bürgenstock (near the city of Lucerne — ed.), in the canton of Nidwald, the Air Force will strengthen air surveillance,» the document says.
It is clarified that the airspace restriction will be in effect from June 13, 2024 8:00 local time (09:00 Moscow time) to June 17, 2024 20:00 local time (21:00 Moscow time).
Switzerland will hold a conference on Ukraine on June 15-16 near the city of Lucerne. Russia will not attend it. About 160 states have been invited to the meeting. Russian Ambassador to Bern Sergei Garmonin previously announced that Russia will not participate in any format in the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, the purpose of which is to present an ultimatum to Moscow. He added that this conference would turn into a noisy but empty PR campaign. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov previously stated that the negotiation process on Ukraine without Russia’s participation makes no sense.
